Every third Tuesday of September is 'prinsjesdag' (Princes' Day).
On this day our queen is driven in a gilded, horse-drawn coach through The Hague from the palace 'Noordeinde' to 'Het Binnenhof', where she in the 'Ridderzaal' (Knight's Hall) will read the 'troonrede' (Speech from the Throne).
Herewith she opens the new parliamental year, and announces the plans.
The 'troonrede' can you read here after 21 September 1999 at 14:00h (Dutch time).
More about the history and backgrounds on 'prinsjesdag' you find on the website of the Dutch Royal Family.
